Personality: The first encounter with Carolina is in a Freelancer flashback. And this Carolina is markedly different from the one we encounter in the current timeline. She's a skilled soldier, a leader, and someone who looks out for her team. She seems to have a good relationship with most everyone on the team, as well. At least until Tex shows up. That's when some of her issues begin developing.
Insecurity is a big problem for Carolina throughout the series and when paired with her competitiveness, it makes her reckless to the point of pushing herself too hard, and as another character describes 'not knowing how to stop in trying to outdo Agent Texas. Before Texas joined the project, Carolina was the top agent, the one the Director relied on and the best.
And then Texas took his attention away, took her place, and Carolina's competitive nature took over. Before Tex, Carolina was a good leader, and the safety of her team was one of her top priorities. She may not have gotten along with them all the time, but they were her friends, her team, and her family.
And she lost everything because of the Direcor's ambition and her own choices, even if some of them were made with good intentions. As one of the only survivors of Project Freelancer, Carolina is bitter, angry and distrustful, her goal of finding the Director the only thing driving her when we first meet her in the current timeline. She's harsh with the Reds and Blues although Epsilon manages to get through to her finally and she eventually admits that she was never able to best Tex.
Never able to outdo the shadow of her own mother.
By the time she shows back up in the Chorus arc, she's a much happier person., having resolved all of her issues with the Director, and by extension her past. Her attention is on a new target and that's what brings her back together with her new team, her new family, as she describes them.
As much as they're annoying assholes with all sort of problems, Carolina takes responsibility for them as much as Wash does, and she's more than willing to risk her life to give them a chance to accomplish their missions. She's by far one of the best fighters in the series though. She's a skilled soldier with a need to excel that pushes her to exceed her own limits, to be better than anyone else.
Skills and attributes: Marksmanship and hand to hand combat skills, also leadership skills.
